Paris Olympics 2024: India’s Vinesh Phogat defeated world number 1 and defending champion Yui Susaki of Japan to enter the semi-finals of the women’s freestyle 50kg wrestling event at the Paris Olympics 2024.
Vinesh came back from 0-2 down to beat Tokyo gold medalist Yui on technical superiority to enter the quarter-finals.
Meanwhile, India’s ‘golden boy’ Neeraj Chopra also performed his best in the first throw (89.34) in the men’s javelin throw qualification round.
In table tennis, the Indian men’s team was eliminated after a clean sweep of 0-3 by China in their round of 16 match.
India’s men’s hockey team will face Germany in the semi-final match and will ensure a medal for India with a win.
