Nagaland Mon massacre: The government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Ministry of Defence have received a notification from the Supreme Court of India over the 2021 Nagaland Mon massacre, in which 13 civilians were killed in an incompetent Indian Army operation. The 30 Indian Army personnel who are suspected will not face charges, according to the Center.
The term “2021 Mon Killings” describes a sad event that happened in Nagaland, where a military operation intended to ambush insurgents in the state resulted in the deaths of thirteen civilians.
The Nagaland government’s objections were noted by a Supreme Court panel that included Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra. The bench also sent letters to the Union Ministry of Defence and the Center.
Nagaland’s plea has now been scheduled for September 3 by the bench.
