Kolkata doctor death: Sanjay Roy, a volunteer for the community and the main suspect in the savage rape and killing of a medical student at the government-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, was a long-time violent criminal against women.

According to media sources, Roy’s neighbors have said that he has had multiple unsuccessful marriages, and the Kolkata Police have allegedly discovered pornographic videos on his cell phone. He was married four times; the fourth wife passed away from cancer last year, and the other three left him because of his violent behavior.

His neighbors claimed that he would often return home drunk in the late hours of the night.

Roy’s mother-in-law claimed that he had a history of violence against women.

Roy volunteered for the Kolkata Police in 2019 in the disaster management section, but he was later moved to the police welfare cell, according to NDTV story. After that, he relocated to the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital police position. He had easy access to numerous departments of the state-run hospital because of his position as a civic volunteer in the Police Welfare Board.

Roy’s mother-in-law claimed in an interview with India Today TV that he had concealed his prior marriages to wed her daughter. In addition, she reported him to the police for abusing and hitting her kid. According to his mother-in-law, he conned multiple people into parting with enormous sums of money under the guise of offering them positions in the Kolkata Police.

Roy’s mother, on the other hand, disputed every accusation and maintained her son’s innocence. He was coerced into confessing to the crime by the police after being set up.

In the meantime, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that if the police are not able to solve the crime by Sunday, her administration will turn over the investigation of the doctor’s rape-murder case to the CBI. Banerjee declared that she would prefer a fast-track court to hear the matter.
