Donald Trump news: Just 4 months before the presidential election, Trump was officially declared the Republican candidate by his party, days after he was attacked during an election rally.
The photo taken by New York Times photographer Doug Mills shows a bullet passing near Trump’s head when a shooter attempted to kill him during Trump’s election rally in Pennsylvania.
The report said that the shooting at Trump’s rally is currently being investigated as an assassination attempt. The former US President, who had blood on his right ear, was rushed by Secret Service agents who immediately reached him as soon as they heard the gunshot.
In the photo taken by Doug Mills, the bullet is seen passing near Trump’s ear. The attacker was later shot dead by Secret Service agents.
The former US President said that the bullet hit the “upper part” of his right ear, BBC reported. Earlier, Trump’s spokesperson had said that he was “fine” and was undergoing treatment.
Speaking to BBC, a witness Gregg claimed that he saw the shooter standing on the roof of a building near the event grounds. The gun-wielding attacker crawled into the building, which was about 50 feet away from where Gregg was standing.
“The man crawled into the building, about 50 feet from us. He had a rifle,” Gregg told BBC.
Current US President Joe Biden also condemned the act and said, “There is no place for this kind of violence in America.”
He also expressed his gratitude to the Secret Service for evacuating Trump safely. He called on America to condemn the attack on X as a nation.
The attack comes amid a significant political development, just four months before the presidential election and days before Trump is officially declared the Republican nominee at his party’s convention. While agents tried to rescue the President, some shouts could be heard warning Trump to get off the stage.
